Technical reliability is key\u2014especially in plants where liquid and solid hazardous waste are processed together.<\/p>\n<p>For a waste management company in Hamburg, METZEN developed a customised grab solution capable of withstanding the extreme demands of a liquid-filled mixing bunker. The challenge was clear: motor-hydraulic grab had to operate permanently submerged up to 1.5 metres in liquid, without aggressive media endangering the electrical or hydraulic components.<\/p>\n<p>Conventional systems with external junction boxes and vulnerable plug connections would not have been reliable under these conditions. METZEN therefore adopted a completely new approach: the direct integration of the connection cable into the electric motor eliminated potential entry points for liquids. At the same time, the plug connection was positioned above the grab outside the critical zone. Combined with high-density protective covers and specially tailored sealing systems, this resulted in a solution that can withstand thermal and chemical stresses over the long term.<\/p>\n<p>The result: an 800-litre grab with maximum sealing, high efficiency, and long service life\u2014a central component for smooth, trouble-free processes in hazardous waste management.
